Joan ( 7)
The Kite Runner

1. Did you find the book engaging? Why?
I find the book really engaging because the writer wrote it clearly such that I could imagine every movement. Other than that, I also think that the story is very interesting and I just kept reading it non-stop.

2. What specific themes did the author emphasize throughout the novel? What do you think he or she is trying to get across to the reader?
Throughout the whole story, I think the author emphasized about regret. He kept doing things that he regretted and after a few years,he finally redeemed himself. Besides that, I also think that the author tell us that we can redeem ourselves despite whatever we have done.

3. Do the character seem real and believable? Are you able to identify with them? To what extent do they remind you of youself or someone you know?
I think the story is real because it is logical and I always thought that has really happened to the author. I think the story reminded me of one of my friends as she has always helped, me but sometimes when she needed help, I will be afraid of something and never help her and thus regret.

4. Did certain parts of the book make you uncomfortable? If so, why did you feel that way? Did this lead to a new understanding or awareness of some aspect of your life you might not have thought before?
I did feel uncomfortable when the author and his servant kept a distance from each other. I feel that way because I think they are very close to each other and now they are not as usual as before so I feel very sad for them.

5. What have you learnt from this story?
I have learnt that we should not do things that we will regret and we can redeem ourselves despite of whatever we did.

CELINE'S Most Memorable Childhood Memory

My most memorable childhood took place when I was five. My family members decided to go to Club Med at Bintan for a holiday. We went there by ship. That was my first time taking a ship. Though the trip was pretty short, my brother and I felt nauseous while on the ship as the waves were very inconsistent.
Half an hour later, we arrived at Bintan. Our jaws dropped upon seeing the wonderful resort. We were all very excited and could not wait to get to the hotel. Grabbing our bags, my cousins and I raced to the hotel room which we were assigned. I snatched the bed next to the window, where I could get a bird’s eye view of the deep blue sea.
It was about time to go to bed so as to have enough energy for the next day.
Hugging my soft toy tightly, I fell asleep. The night passed really quickly and it was time for us to wake up. We changed to our sports attire a prepared for the brand new day. We were briefed by three instructors about the rules and regulations in the compound.
My first item was the flying trapeze. I hung on to the bar very tightly as I was very afraid at my first try. When I could not hold on any longer, they pulled the harness and I fell onto the net. Subsequently, I tried many times and at the fifth try, I managed to do a frontward flip. My relatives clapped for me and I was extremely proud of myself.
The subsequent days of the trip also brought lots of joy to my family members. At the end of the trip, we were given a medal each. I was crowned the ‘Best Trapeze Flyer’.
I enjoyed my trip and really hope to go there again as it had brought me wonderful and unforgettable memories.

JOAN'S - Most Memorable Childhood Memory

My most memorable childhood memory was when I was 7 years old. There were many cute puppies inside a house that no one lived in. The house is just opposite my house and everyday I could see the puppies.
I begged my mum to let me keep a puppy and buy some dog food. My father disagreed because he said that it will make the house dirty. Everyday, my brother and I fed the puppies with some breads and biscuits. This continued until after a month, somebody had moved into the house so the poor puppies had to move out and unfortunately it is raining season. Every night, I could hear the puppies moaning bitterly outside my house. I begged my mum to let them come in but my mum still refused so my brother and I secretly let the puppies in and fed them with some biscuits.

The next day, my brother and I woke up earlier than everybody and quickly let the puppies out. My brother and I did this everyday until one night, my parents discovered it and chased the puppies out. After a few days, the puppies were gone and I did not know where they went. I miss the puppies very much I hope they still remember me.

CHARMAINE'S - Most Memorable Childhood Memory

My most memorable memory happened when I was 7 years old. It was the December holidays and my family have planned to go on a tour to Australia. I was very elated as I loved western food as I could get to eat it everyday there. As soon as we reached Australia, we checked into a Hotel and proceeded to Disney Land! There were many worlds such as, Dream world, Sea world and many other more . We went to Water world first and watched a performance by very cute seals doing many impressive stunts and we were amazed by how the seals were so obedient and intelligent and how they responded to the instructors. After that, we sat some of the exciting and thrilling rides available. We went to Australia's many attractions like Sydney, Gold Coast, and took many pictures of the place. When it was time to go back, at the airport, I was already missing Australia. My family and I had a pleasure, fun and great time there. I hoped that we could make another trip to Australia again. That is why my trip to Australia is one of the Most Memorable Childhood Memory.
